I believe that one aspect of my education that can not be adequately displayed in any application is my love of reading. I believe that reading is the most fundamental aspect of ones education. Without reading it is impossible to learn any morsel of truth in this world. My love of reading however, is only multiplied by the idea of reading works of literature written by such esteemed authors as Jane Austen, Ernest Hemingway, and Leo Tolstoy. Throughout high school and even prior to that, the literature I have been exposed to has helped me expand both my vocabulary and reading skills. However, my extracurricular reading has helped me broaden my senses and imagination. I am able to grasp concepts in other subjects and fields more easily. I attribute that ease to my avid reading. I believe that my success on the SAT and other standardized tests can also be attributed to my extracurricular reading. I have tutored several children and tried to emphasize the importance of reading, saying that only through reading can they achieve their goals and become successful in life. Although reading is required in any institution of learning, I feel that for one to reach a higher level of education, they must embrace reading, and allow it to dominate their lives. Only through such action can one succeed.
